Today when I opened up my Chrome browser, I noticed the notification bar at the bottom. A Journey through Google Search history. I have clicked on it to read more about it. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s worth to spend a few minutes on it.
If you don’t have much time, here are some of the interesting facts.
1996 PageRank
Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed the PageRank for their university project.
1997 Google.com
They registered the search domain.
1998 The launch
Not long after the domain registration Google Inc. is ready to start. With a few nice blue links, the search giant starts their journey with 26 million web pages, which grow up to 60 by the end of the year.
2000 New languages
Google expands the search engine into 10 other languages: Spanish, French, German, Swedish, Italian, Finnish, Portuguese, Danish, Dutch and Norwegian.
The index also reaches 1 billion URLs. – Gigantic numbers if you ask me.
2001 Adwords
The advertising platforms starts. People can see now advertisements on their search result page.
And the Google Search History continues….
Obviously this list is not complete. I would highly recommend checking it out on the Google’s page, which is more interactive.
